Congress Venue, A Venue of Choice,  The Cultural Center former Ursuline School

Located at the highest point of the medieval castle district known as Kastro (Castle), the Ursuline School offers spectacular panoramic views onto the Aegean, the Temple of Apollo (Portara) and surrounding islands, Paros, Mykonos and Syros. Visible from afar, the newly restored and renovated three-story neoclassic building elicits an aura of science and academia; a milieu befitting to its history as one of Greece’s finest convents for schooling at the time.

The school started to be built in 1739 and was in operation till 1970 as an all-girls school attended by girls from the Ursuline order from Greece, Constantinople, Middle East, where they were taught reading/writing, Christianity teachings and embroidery; the school quickly gained a stellar reputation for its academic program. Restored in 2009, is now a cultural venue for the Municipality of Naxos, houses the municipality’s historical archive and library. It is adjacent to the Archeological Museum of Naxos that hosts the most extensive collection of Cycladic idols and to the Catholic Archdiocese Metropolis.

Since opening, it has hosted international conferences and symposiums, and advanced schools in the medical and scientific fields as well as artistic and cultural events and exhibitions. On the terrace, with amazing 360° views there is the a Café, where delegates may enjoy the view along with their coffee or drink.

 The Venue is about a 15 min walk from where the boat docks and an 8 min walk from The Health Center.
